History

Fastening Products of Lancaster is a family-owned and operated fastener and hardware supplier located in Lancaster County, PA. We specialize in commercial fasteners, Industrial supplies and In-house screw machine manufacturing.

Founded by Robert Welk in 1971, the company was originally named Welk Industrial Products Company. After serving as a B-17 pilot in WWII and attending Carnege Tech on the GI bill, Robert Welk earned a degree in engineering and began work for the Hamilton Watch Co. He started his business a few years later selling parts to area businesses. Later he expanded into the fastener distribution.

In 1974, Fastening Products of Lancaster was founded, just a few years after adding fasteners to the company's offerings.

Robert's son Randy joined the company in 1981. In 1983, the machine shop was started to help customers get quality parts with on-time delivery. This has grown into a full screw machine shop. Randy passed away in recent years. Master machinist Jim Farrington runs the machine shop today.

In 1985, Robert's son Curt joined the company shortly after earning a Business Marketing degree from Penn State University. Curt took over the company operations later that year. Like his brother Randy, Curt has passed away in recent years. Curt's wife Mary now runs the business.

Over the years, Fastening Products of Lancaster experienced steady growth and now has a staff of 12 employees with many years of industry experience. Today the company has grown into a 25,000 square foot building conveniently located at the intersection of Rt 30 and Old Philadelphia Pike.
